BECHEM at the second Lubricants Sustainability Forum in Amsterdam

Sustainability in the lubricants industry is becoming increasingly important as it proves its worth in practice. This was precisely the focus of InventU’s second Lubricants Sustainability Forum in Amsterdam, where experts from the lubricants industry gathered to discuss current developments and future challenges relating to sustainable lubricant solutions.

BECHEM InventU’s CTO, Dr Max Jopen, was in attendance and shared our company’s perspective on the key issues currently shaping the industry.

In his presentation, ‘Lubricants in Electromobility – Tribological Requirements and Challenges’, Dr Jopen highlighted the specific tribological requirements of modern electromobility applications. It became clear that new drive concepts require far more than just new lubricant formulations. A thorough understanding of friction, wear, cooling, material compatibility and electrical properties is crucial. At the same time, the tribological challenges of conventional internal combustion engines remain relevant and must be taken into account in parallel.

Dr Jopen then chaired the panel discussion ‘From the laboratory to reality: Do sustainable lubricants offer measurable performance benefits?’ Together with Marco Bellini (Bellini SpA), Andreas Dodos (Eldon’s) and Albert Boddien (Sasol International Chemicals), they discussed the opportunities, challenges and requirements for sustainable lubricant solutions based on practical experience.
